Sisters Arts Association invites you to start the last weekend of August at the Fourth Friday Artwalk from 4 to 7 p.m. through the galleries of Sisters. Meet the featured local artists and support them and the galleries that display their work.
GALLERIES
The Campbell Gallery presents “Discovering Home” by Anastasia Zielinski. This collection, in plein air oil pastel and expanded through larger gouache and oil paintings in studio, reflects the artist’s growing relationship with Central Oregon. Since moving to Bend in 2021 to become her mother’s primary caregiver, Zielinski has used art to stay grounded through caretaking, health challenges, and the slow process of making a home in an unfamiliar place.
Sisters Gallery and Frame is bringing together a collection of work called “The Way of Water,” inspired by the William Stafford poem, Climbing Along the River. “Even the upper end of the river believes in the ocean,” Stafford writes. This collection of photographs and paintings by gallery artists will celebrate our water resources as we ponder our current drought and recent wildfires.
Hood Avenue Art’s four featured artists are Gin Laughery, known for serene and soulful monotypes and mixed media prints; Kathleen Keliher, plein air landscape painter in oil and pastel; Sharon Reed, creator of jewelry using stones and fossils she has collected from around the world; and Linda Heisserman, whose functional and sometimes asymmetrical thrown-and-then-carved pottery always elicits a smile.

The Stitchin’ Post’s signature wall will display “Designing With Signatures” by Tina Davis. Her quilts are a collection of hundreds of signatures from unfinished quilt tops and squares. Inspired by her grandmother, Davis was further motivated by an online quilt prompt from quilt collector Bill Volkening, using signature blocks to create comfort quilts for the families of victims of a shooting. While vintage names are the most fascinating, she honors the intention of each signature as she preserves it as part of her improvisational style. It’s both quirky and genuinely commemorative.
Toriizaka Art presents new works by Henriette Heiny, Chas Martin, and Lawrence Stoller. Heiny and Martin will participate in a conversation about their work, discussing their inspiration, process, and goals. Starting at 4 p.m. with preselected questions, the discussion will then open to audience participation. Martin’s masks and figurative sculptures explore imaginative exaggerations of human qualities—the hidden, the shadowed, and the parts of ourselves we do not always reveal. Heiny’s organically inspired paintings combine fluid pouring techniques with delicate brushwork. Renowned crystal sculptor Lawrence Stoller returns to the gallery with fifteen magnificent, one-of-a-kind sculptures.
Wildflower Studio features original paintings and silkscreens by Erika Eckert, an Oregon native and Sisters resident. Erika fuses her knowledge of painting, fabric and silk screening to expertly create wall hangings and paintings. Her latest work blends her rigorous classic art
training with her desire to create lightness and whimsy.
The Rickards Gallery spotlights Sarah B. Hanson, whose show, “All Things Alive” represents a new body of work, exploring the living energy of the Pacific Northwest—from luminous mountains to wildflowers bursting with movement and color. These paintings invite us beyond the landscape itself and into the feeling of being there: immersed, awakened, and connected to something larger
than ourselves.

Also, be sure to check out the work of local artists on the SAA’s Art Walls around town. Art Walls are in various non-gallery locations including The Barn, Fika, Sisters Bakery and The Hub. QuickDraw: At the close of the Artwalk, a drawing will e held for two $50 gift certificates, good at any participating gallery. Visitors may sign up once per gallery.
