Patricia Kirk

Patricia’s creative pursuits began in early childhood growing up in Portland, Oregon.  Her beginning college art training was initially geared towards commercial art, where she found drawing and painting her main interests and lead her towards the pursuit of illustration. After attending a year at The Oregon College of Art in Ashland, Oregon, she returned to Portland and began a semester at Portland Community College. As is often the case, various life changes and challenges began a series of moves but she continued her education as she was able with a series of schools still focusing on illustration which taught painting exclusively in watercolor and which she continued to paint in for almost two decades.

Eventually she had to postpone her artistic education but twelve years later headed back to school focused on a degree in Fine Art. Beginning once again back in Portland, first at the Museum school, The Pacific Northwest College of Art for two years, then transferred to Portland State for one year, and then transferred again to finish out her Bachelor of Fine Art degree at Marylhurst University. By this point she was now painting predominantly in oil and had begun experimenting with materials and mediums which lead her to begin incorporating cold wax medium into the oil which is painted with a palette knife.

Being a highly creative artist, Patricia loves variety and utilizing her vast knowledge and experience as a painter, so she offers a variety of styles and techniques which her customers love as there is always work that suits their taste and desires. She has participated in many art shows both group and in her own One-Person shows, and has been represented over the years in many galleries and has sold work around the country. Since moving back to Oregon in 2013 she has been focusing on her own marketing, teaching, building her online presence, as well as in-person sales.

As a lover of nature as well as the deeper mysteries of life, Patricia strives to express beauty but also a sense of spirit in her work, a quality that’s positive and life affirming. She desires to have her work bring joy and an uplifting presence to those that collect her paintings, and she continues to hone her skills, developing her ability to express and communicate the depth of her artistic vision.
