Winnie Givot

Winnie Givot, an internationally known artist, paints beauty. She strives to portray natural beauty, which is often unseen, although it is everywhere, as well as the deeper beauty of the subject. Her sensitive renderings touch the heart of the viewer.

A definition of beauty as “the point of contact with love” has special meaning for her. With great feeling she paints, delightingin the light and forms of her subject, the flow of the paint and how one color blends with another as her heart opens to the beauty before her.

Winnie is not only an exceptional artist, she is also an exceptional teacher. She teaches weekly classes during the school year along with three-day workshops in the summer and 10-day to two-week painting retreats abroad. Her next international workshop will be in Ecuador in February 2020.

In 2000, Winnie Givot presented a painting to the Chilean Congress (for which she received their Congressional Medal), and in 2002 she took 24 paintings to Washington DC which were presented to Congressmen and women as inspiration - that instead of basing decisions on greed and fear, they work to find new responses and solutions and for making decisions which honor the highest in ourselves and all others.

More than 900 of her paintings are in collections internationally, a few of which are those of President and Mrs. Barack Obama, President Mrs. George W. Bush, Colin Powell, Deepak Chopra, Senator Ron Wyden, United Parcel Service, Colorado College, Harley Brown, former Gov. and Mrs. John Kitzhaber, as well as the Congress of Chile. Her paintings have been included in numerous solo shows and national and international juried exhibitions.

Winnie belongs to Northwest Watercolor Society, National Watercolor Society, Watercolor Society of Oregon, Western Federation of Watercolor Societies, and Plein Air Painters of Oregon.

She has been included in Who's Who in Americaand Who's Who in the World.

She lives near Sisters, Oregon in a straw bale house on a small ridge overlooking the Three Sisters and the Cascade Mountains. She teaches in her barn studio, which is welcoming to students and collectors and those who simply want to share the beauty and peace there.
